The Ford engine isn't as long lived (durable) as the Volvo redblock, but otherwise starting with a new crate motor (or a very good upgraded rebuilt), you should still see a few hundred thousand miles of service. Problems are usually in installation and in future servicing, and depending on how much you push it, bending or breaking stock suspension parts (replace all bushings with poly and make sure the differential is in good shape).
FWIW, the turbos can be just as reliable as the n/a. Don't push it when it's still cold at startup, let it spin down before shutting off, and use synthetic oil. Beyond an occasional blowout of the intake or exhaust manifold gaskets, the rest of engine is the just as bulletproof as the n/a.
