740 stalling, not starting 700

I, too, have a 740 Turbo that is experiencing hard starting and trouble idling. Once I get her rolling, she pulls strongly and smoothly. As soon as I let off or come to a stop, she starts surging, idling badly, and then dies.

You said that it is possible to clean the IAC valve. How do you do this? What type of cleaner or solvent do you use? What part exactly do you clean, or do you just dunk the whole thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I love this wagon. If I end up having to buy a used part, what is a reasonable price to expect to pay?
