Reverse Light Relay...Again 120-130

Hello All,

I just got the reverse light relay in the mail and put it in last night. When I connected the ground to the battery, the relay fired and turned the reverse lights on (as it should). Then I connected the wire to the transmission and the reverse lights are on all the time. Therefore, there is a ground available all the time.

So how do I fix the switch on the transmission? I had a look and it looks like it will come off, what am I looking for when I get it pulled? Is there a way to rig up a switch to the shifter directly?
