pistons and engine block 700 1988

Either your gage is giving you a wrong reading or your motor is tighter than the specs.
The specs for C: 96.00-96.01 for D:96.01-96.02
To measure the piston rings, insert each ring in the cylinder and push it down to about 15mm from the bottom, measure the end gap. Uper compression ring: 0.30-0.55mm. Lower compression ring: 0.30-0.55mm. Oil scraper ring: 0.30-0.60mm.
I think you will only need new pistons rings and a set of main bearings and big end rod bearings. The car will run like new.
