The U-joints are the only job on the car I've had someone else do since I got it. I'm going to climb under and have a closer look at those today.

Drums are definitely tight.

By 'move the wheel to the sides' I'm assuming you mean in and out, perpendicular to the axle. It's noticeable, but just bearly. What adjusts that? Shims in the diff somewhere?
