Removing ball-joints without killing myself 140-160 1968

Here's how I do it:
1. Jack the car up fairly high and put stands under the sill.
2. Loosen the ball joint nuts (either or both)about 1/8" being SURE to maintain
good thread engagement.
3. Remove shock absorber and sway bar connections.
4. Put a jack under the A-frame - It should be extended almost fully because
you have to let it down quite a way.
5. Separate the ball joint(s) from the spindle forging. I use my balljoint press. You can use a pickle fork if you don't mind destroying the ball joint
or its boot.
6. Slowly let the jack down until the spring is loose.
7. Pull the spring out.
Then you get to worry about the long bolt.....
