The only reason that you put the jack under the lower A-frame is to keep
the spring from extending too fast. The further down it is when you start,
the less you have to drop it with the jack.
There is NO upward force on the upper ball joint. The spring pushes on the
A-frame. In fact you have to lift the upper A-frame to get the ball joint
out unless the weight of the spindle pulls it out.
BTW I failed to mention protecting your brake lines.
