Longer wheel studs, spacers

Hi all,

I just bought another set of 16" "Hydras," this time they're going on our 245 V8. One of the things I'd like to do is run spacers on the rear wheels to give me a little more clearance between the tires and the inner fender-wells. Of course, that means I'll have to use longer wheel studs.

I noticed on another 240 site (Andrew Hyde's?) that Volvo makes a longer stud, PN 8360085. Has anybody used these? How long are they? (total length below the "head"). Volvo says they're still available, but they are awfully "proud" of these; they want $29.05 ea (list)--and I'll need 10 . . . .

I have been doing some research on other options . . . . ARP PN 100-7703 looks like it might work; same size/pitch (1/2-20) and knurl diameter (5/8" [.625]), shoulder/knurled segment is .4", total length is 3.5". Cost seems pretty reasonable for a stud that's rated to 190K psi--11.95 for a set of 5 at Summit Racing. Only thing I'm concerned about is the length--but if I can find a 3/4" to 1" spacer . . . . which leads to the next question: anybody know where to get a set of 5x108mm spacers 19-25mm (3/4 - 1") thick?

By the way, there are some similar wheel studs out there from Moroso and Moser Engineering. Slightly shorter (3"), but knurl is only .615" in diameter.

Any insights, BTDTs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Steve A-
