I checked out your web site (.com not .net, or did I get the wrong site?) and I see that you're in California. That means you'll have to deal with CA smog. The drivetrain in the '87 will have to be brought up to '97 SMOG standards. Computor, sensors, engine bits to which various sensors are attached... ALL the emissions stuff will have to be '97. It'd probably be your best bet to use a complete donor car for all the doo-dads you're going to need. I'm not even sure if an '87 HO motor could be used with the '97 accessories. My take is that it's probably easier to start from scratch. Uhmmm... could you get a 5.0 in a passenger car in '97? The 4.6 motors won't fit.
If you don't have to worry about smog, then the swap should be fairly straight forward.
