Need suggestions for conversion transplant.

....there were no 5.0's in passenger cars in 97. I believe the last was the 95 Mustang...

97 through 01 Explorer/Mountaineer had 5.0's, but I understand in CA it's a no-no to put a truck motor (different emissions requirements) into a passenger car. So there's no way to "update" an older 5.0 to 97 emissions specs.
