Do you have an impact wrench? The only things I found difficult to do myself was the removal of some bushings, and the alignment. (I guess you could do alignment yourself, too)
On bushings, if I can get the middle tube out, then I'm ok. Otherwise, I need to have it burned out, and then I can remove the outer shell. And for the big trailing arm bushing, I rented the tool from Duane Hoberg, but there are good instructions for making your own. Have you seen them?

Are you going to use poly bushings? The great thing is that they seem to be cheaper than genuine Volvo bushings, they last longer, and once you install them, it is really easy to R&R them with new poly bushings in the future. Oh yeah, and they make the handling more solid.
