I am probably opening a small can of worms here, but for a 1998 S70, if a person wants to be able to read/reset codes and reset the Service Interval Indicator, what would a solution be? Or does it require two or more tools?
I spent over an hour trying to research this, and came up mostly empty handed. Or maybe just not happy with what I found. I did find several broken and stale links since a lot of posts were from 2004 and earlier.
There is a dedicated tool from England with dip switches, and all it seems to do is reset the Service Light. Maybe the SRS light also. It is around $60-70. I can't see buying that tool to do the one job - yes I know people put electrical tape over the bulb, and I suppose I could yank the dash just to pull the one bulb but I don't want to do that.
I came up with only a few leads on a tool to read codes - a search for someone named Alex Pepper landed me at Ilexa and a software tool VOL-FCR. I found a site where you can make your own interface, which is something I could do, but I would still need software. I think this software advertises it resets the Service Light.
If you have experience with VOL-FCR or another tool that may reset codes and the Service Light, I would be most grateful for any information. Thanks! Don
