Daughter Susan called me from WalMart saying that her NA 850 was sputtering and would not take
the gas when she tried to accelerate (even to back out).
I went over and watched under the hood while she tried to start it and it would fire a few times but
not really run. Did not see anything amiss.
I brought her and my wife home (about a mile) and changed clothes.
We went back over to WalMart, looked things over again and she tried to start it.
It started right up and seemed to run normally. Temp was in the upper 80s.
I noted an odd odor, apparently from the exhaust, like some wierd organic compound.
She says that she had been noticing it lately also.
This is the car that wiped out its mass air flow sensor about 6 months ago and we put an "el cheapo"
one in it at that time, following which it seemed to be mostly normal but the Check Engine
light stayed on.
I'm wondering if El Cheapo is giving out intermittently. I found a genuine Bosch item on ebay for $144.95.
I'm sorely tempted. Any comments?
