Thanks for all the input it has helped me alot.
My first 850 was fantanstic. I only replaced the turbo cooler and drove it for over 60,000 miles with no problems. My son is now driving the car and it is showing wear at 240,000. The original ball joints, cv joint boots and left wheel bearing are bad and have to be replaced. It burns oil but that is cause my son did not replace the blow by vacuum line. But it still runs and has no real noises.
The 97 850 I drive now has many things going wrong at 110,000 miles. Things that make me nervous are the cv joint noise, oil leak from turbo tube, air pump shorting out and running all the time, brakes squeal very loud, engine light on all the time, rear windows won't go down. I have, replaced the fuel pump, heater blower motor (twice), radiator and ABS unit These are some of the main reasons I want to replace the car. I think the car was in an accident beacuse of paint differences.
I try to do most of the work myself, the one time I took it to the dealer it cost me close to four hundred dollars so they could tell me what the codes said, change tranmission fluid and replace the heater blower motor for the second time. They also said that there was an additional $2700 worth of work to do. Needless to say I took the car home and did alot myself.
Do sound like a upset Volvo owner. So I think I will be looking seriously at a Honda.

PS My 1968 Triumph TR250 has less problems and more fun to work on and drive (not as quick).
