causes for not shifting? 850

Forgot to mention your transmission problem. It is most likely caused by the PNP switch. It is located on the top of the transmission under the battery holder. The contact lube dries out and solidifies in colder weather and causes the contacts to hangup and make/break intermittently. It is easy to replace and available at Auto zone for about $45. For a quick fix you can try moving the shifter from park to low about 15-20 when the car is warmed up. The other thing that might help is to warm up the switch with a heat gun to softer up the lube. The first one that I replaced I tore apart and found the lube to be like putty. If you could squert some WD40 in there to losten things up it would work fine forever. It is a very robust switch, designed to last a long time. Too bad they used a crappy lube.
Good luck.
