Well maybe the Canadian Models are different that the US ones in this aspect, but I turned mine off a while ago - Next to the Light switch to turn the lights Off (DTR ON) / Parking Lights / On there is a little switch that can be turned. I believe its on the bottom left of the switch housing, could be the left, anyway use a small flat-head screwdriver to turn it. That is the controler for the DTR here in the US. Hope this helps ya and its the same in Canada.
