Jeremy, what year and model is your car? The answer depends on that. What x described is for a US market 850, S70, C70 and V70 up to MY00. I have turned mine off before I drove the car off the dealer's lot upon delivery. Annoying those things. If the car is Canadian and you are still in Canada, you may want to re-consider turning them off, since it is probably illegal.
