Before I disabled my headlights-as-DRL's, I rewired the foglights so they'd work independently of the headlights. Now the foglights are my DRL's. I wound up dismantling the headlight switch (my car is a Canadian edition) and had a substantial mechanical defense against switch tampering.

I believe in the effectiveness of DRL's not because of the statistics (Hella documents 25% reduction in fatlities from daytime accident in places where DRL's are used) but for empirical reasons: DRL's once saved my butt.

Still, I'd rather burn up $4 H1's than $20 Vision Plus H7's, so I rewired.
