It's possible that your cars coolant wasn't as full as it should've been from day 1 and that with cooler weather, the coolant level then contracts enough so that your low coolant light came on. We see this all the time with all cars that have low coolant lights, not just Volvos or S80s. If there's no external leaks, once topped off it should then be OK.

I've seen this occur on many cars of all types over the years (including my own) and usually the customers never know it when there car doesn't have a low coolant sensor/light. The guy who changes your oil should be checking and topping off all fluids as needed.
