Re: OK......................................... S80 2000

Hi John:

Let's assume the coolant level drop from MAX to MIN was due to a lowering of the ambient temperatures of late in my area -- and yes the winter weather is fast approaching in my area. The question then becomes, will the coolant level return from MIN to MAX as the temperatures rise at a later date, in the spring say?

I have evidence (from internet user forums such as this one and on Yahoo) that three other S80 owners have experienced this mysterious loss of coolant. One (MY2000) at 6,800 miles, another (MY1999) at just around 50,000 miles, and mine (MY2000) at 5,400 miles. This data is insufficient to say it's a common S80 problem -- but it does tell me my car is not unique with this anomaly.

I will have my S80's cooling system pressure tested as you describe during its next normal service check -- another 2,000 miles.

Regards... Barry Sharp
