Sounds like they broke the clips taking the glass out and didn't want to cough up for new ones. The glass is theoretically as strong as it would be built to AS1 standards, but it may be like drywall or baby formula. I would be tempted to either go back and get the trim fixed and the glass straight or get a new one installed by someone else, wait till spring so you get the winter chips on the existing glass
