Timing Belt Replacement V70-XC70 2003

You do realize that the Tbelt interval is 105K miles, same for tensioner. Before you order all of the parts, pull off the timing belt cover and inspect the belts for cracks and general wear. It might have been changed at 100K miles.

Correct, the right front wheel comes off. There is a single screw holding down a flap that can be pulled forward to expose the crank pulley.

For 1999+ engines that have veriable valve timing, it is suggested to rotate the engine 90 degrees past TDC and then back to the timing marks to remove the tension on the intake cam. I am not sure if this applies to your 2003, but it probably does. No cam holder tool is needed. BUT, before you remove the old belt, count the teeth between the 2 cams and make sure you have the same count with the new belt in place. If one of your cams is one tooth off, no harm is done, but you will get a check engine light.

This is not an easy job for a novice and first timers will find that it takes a whole day to do properly.
