Timing Belt Replacement V70-XC70 2003

Hello, One of the best suggestions I read before doing this job applies to seating the new belt. Start at the crank pulley and go up the right side (as you view it from the passenger wheel well). Keep this side tight as you do it. Also get a short bungee cord and make a "sunday" (4-5" O of #12 line). With this rig you can choke onto the bungee as well as the new timing belt to keep it taught. I found it very useful. I used it on the left side of the crank pulley as I seated the new belt. A great third hand. It's funny to see a thread about timing belts with no mention of the water pump. The general opinion on that one is that they last 2 timing belts. Give your pump a look and feel. Any sweating of coolant or movement of the shaft means farewell old pump. If the coolant seems neglected give serious consideration to changing the pump as it is such a small inclusion at this point. Kira
