Pulling the intake manifold is no big deal. Bending over the engine for 3-5 hours is rough on your back. The only problem you MIGHT encounter are the injector seals getting brittle with age. If you carefully pry up each injector with a 17mm wrench, slowly, you might save them from harm.
With the manifold out, the oil separator is easily replaced along with the lines to the PVC and cam cover.
Just remember, the oil dipstick AND a bracket that supports the manifold are bolted to the bottom side of the manifold. Both are 12mm and within an inch of each other.
