From reading a lot of posts here, not all 2001's are bad cars. I don't need to tell you that you are taking a risk if you buy it...

I can't remember any other 2001 specific issues. You might want to check the operation of all the electronics and also take a peek at the exhaust. The reasonator was going on my Dad's car. Keep the tranny fluid fresh and only use the Volvo specified ATF. In the future, you might or might not need the ETM or DIM.
