Frozen brake cable 850

Ready? Take out center console and put in right floor board. Slacken the cable as much as you can, I used a T40 driver. Take off the snap ring, don't loose it! Take the cable end out of the holder.
Move the seat as far forward and up as possible. Remove the rear seat so that you can access the really dumb carpet holder tabs. Pull the plastic bottom door cover off, down from the B pillar. Pick up the carpet and follow the cable to the hold down. Use a large screwdriver and pry up the plastic holder off of the screw. Unclip the plastic holder and put it on the floor so you don't loose it. Close the doors. The cable then gets pulled out from the outside.

The plastic cover at the brake end of the cable is just an O ring and pressure fitted. I drilled off the pop rivit. You should take a wire brush to the inside part of the brake that accepts the cable holder - do not grease it like I did.

Oh, don't grease the cable holder at the brake end, it needs to be forced in so it stays in place. A screwdriver works nicely.
