winter mode overnight in cold weather

adding new status now - hope to be adding properly

Drained, refilled ATF. Used several (partial) drains and partial refills to get the ATF red. Disconnected nothing. Got approximately full after several partial drains and fills, then drove on street. Topped off ATF reading from Hot side of stick and having driven ca. 30 minutes.

Trans. lights were normal and trans. was shifting properly during this process. Drove for several weeks normally.

Weather turned much colder one night (teens Fahrenheit next morning). Trans. lights and upshift light on dash were flashing upon starting car in driveway. I thought: well here we are starting out in 3rd gear again - . But the trans. shifted properly despite the goofy lights!

Lights stayed flashing, trans. stayed working properly for days. Then the flashing lights stopped and the trans. continued to work properly.

Everything working now for a couple of weeks normally. All I did was refresh the ATF, I did not have the guts to replace the PNP switch to be honest anyhow. But would have done it if necessary.

Did the trans./telemetry fix itself with just the new ATF? PNP switch likely really failing near future? Any comment appreciated.

Just a final 2 cents here re: driving the V70 AWD. Not so great in the city, compared with my 740T wagon. But the V70 does shine on the highway, great open road car.
