Just think, if they were to guarantee their cars for 10 yrs/100,000 miles, they could no longer say things like the trans fluid doesn't need changing.

"...That would help the brand name immensely and keep the resale value from falling like a rock...."

The flip side is that rapid depreciation is what allows people like me to drive Volvos. :) :)
