It's not the same engine, the bores, pistons, turbo are all different. The T5's block is stronger to accommodate the additional power. Is the GLT even intercooled? Contemporary road tests suggested the GLT was far more tractable in normal driving than the T5. The T5's power comes on at high revs with a noticable delay, it's kinda like the movies of a jet's afterburners kicking in...
If I wanted a kick-@## sort of car I'd buy or build something else. Maybe a Mustang, or a 965 plus a bent 5.0 Mustang plus the Converse kit.
