My warranty period ran out on my 98 S70 GLT in December and I have 44K miles. You may be able to find my previous comments on the situation in the recent thread about extended warranty. I just found out about my A/C evaporator last month. It's not dead yet, but could be close. The symptom I noticed was that the clutch for the condenser (I think that's right) kept switching on and off every 20 seconds or so. You can hear it quite easily if you raise the rpm's to 1500. Actually, the symptom that should have tipped me off was the less than cool air on occasion. When I mentioned it to the service guys at Volvo they just charged it up and sent me on my way. Once the freon leaks out you're back to square one. According to a private mechanic the condensers on the S70 are worse than on the 850 and last only a few years before replacement. The cost is about $1200.
Does this experience sound familiar to anyone else?
