The private shop I mentioned has said they could do a die test, however, that would only show leaks within the engine compartment. If they did the test and found no leaks there they would charge the system and see how long that would hold-- they guess probably 6 to 8 months. the test is about $50.
Does anyone know the cost of the Evaporator alone? Is it a job that can be done by me if I'm brave? Which two guard bombs are you refering to? Maybe it's boobie trapped. If the evaporator only lasts about as long as a set of tires, why shouldn't I try it?
