why are volvos also known as bricks 850

The 60/80's look ungainly, don't they? Just as the auto world is moving away from jelly bean-shaped cars, Volvo moves in with one that looks like it got too close to the flame. Front end looks mashed and droopy, side ridge is sags front and rear, rear deck is a complete puzzle. Looks like it was styled by three different focus groups.

And I'm really afraid of Ford's next move. Have you noticed the new "Jaguar" that looks suspiciously like a Taurus? Have you noticed the duplication between Ford's product line and Volvo in every one of Volvo's market niches (trucks excepted)? I've got my fingers crossed that they base the next Mustang on a Volvo T5 platform instead of making the next S60 a Taurus.
