Checked manual..... 850 1995

Hmmm. That is so strange. I just wish I had a digital camera, so I could take some pics, upload them, and show you how these blasted hoses are routed. :(

I can see how it can get confusing right there at the fan shroud. You've got the IACV, the purge valve, and the EGR controller all right there with lots of hoses. I just went out and checked again. The white hose (directly under the yellow one) goes straight from the controller to a small black tree of ports on top of the IACV. The yellow hose goes straight to a port on the front of the air intake manifold. This port is directly beneath another slightly port where a larger hose with a yellow/white stripe along the entire lenghth of it that goes to the purge valve. The only hose coming off the EGR valve has a white band on it at the valve, and it goes all the way back to the turbo, routed under the IACV and over the tranny. This is the way the hoses are routed on my car. I'm just sorry it is so confusing.

I have some good news, though :) I installed a new controller valve, and the valve is purring now. However, the car still idled rough when codes were reset. And, for the first time, I noticed a "sucking" sound coming from the area next to the power steering pump, kind of to the rear of it and to its right, going into the air intake manifold. I got out my flash light and took a look, and EUREKA, there was a hose that was completely blown out. It was hanging on by a 1/8 inch piece of rubber that attaches to the passenger side end of the air intake manifold. I think I found my leak, what do you think?

I temporarily fixed it with electrical tape, and have driven the car all day with no check engine light (yay). This hose goes behind the air intake manifold and attaches to the main intake hose to the turbo. The main intake hose there has an index-finger sized hose coming off it right at the turbo. Coming off THAT hose is a pencil sized hose with an elbow. On that end the elbow of that hose is so deteriorated that it is almost collapsing in on itself. The other end of this hose is the one that blew out.

Do you have any idea the name for this hose. I'm going to have to have it replaced. With a full day I could probably remove the air intake manifold and replace it myself, but jeez I'd rather somebody else do it!

Pete I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate your assistence on this problem. I feel like I definitely owe you something for this.

Again, many thanks !

Kevin
