It's a smog check....why doesn't it pass? What's the deal? Was the car freshly tuned with new plugs and a can of techron or other fuel incection cleaner recently?
You mentioned a drive program.....Smog checks should always be done immediately after the car has been driven for a while. Ideally the car should be driven for a few miles after it is warm then immediately into the shop and on to the smog test. If you turn the car off, even for a couple minutes, or if it idles for a while the exhaust and cat can cool down and emissions will shoot up. Also if the car is turned off the computer may go into cold start mode and then the emissions will shoot up for a number of minutes until all the engine checks are complete.
Am I missing something?
