S80 2.9 Transmission problems? S80 2001

I have an '86 745T (220K) and a '87 744 (190K) and being that you asked, it's my personal opinion at this time that the newer Volvos aren't as likely to be as durable as the older Volvos BUT I could be wrong and only time will tell.
I've driven several S80s for long cruises over the years and I really like driving them. They're probably the most comfortable Volvo ever made and I like their handling as well. I'm hoping to own a used one myself some day so like you, I too am hoping that the newer S80s ('01 on up) which are doing better overall now than previous years hold up.
