I have a '99 S80 T6 that is on its third transmission. The first transmission made a noise like a sewing machine and was finally replaced in late '01. In three months, the replacement transmision was slipping badly, and was replaced again in early '02. The third transmission is now hard shifting from second to third gears and will be going back shortly for transmission #4. Although the replacement remanufactured transmissions are supposed to include all of the latest upgrades, on the basis of my experience I would have to say that either this is not the case, or the build quality of the remanufactured GM transmissions out of their Chicago plant is not good. Again, on the basis of my experience with three transmissions to date; if you have a transmission problem with this car, the remanufactured GM transmission Volvo supplies will just perpetuate your problem, and transmission replacement in this car is not inexpensive.
