850 vs 240 850

My choice on an 850 would be a 97 GLT (light pressure turbo
introduced on that car) or a 95 (mainly cause we have a 95
855 and it has been a fine car).

The 850 meets side impact standards that the 200 series does
not meet and I suspect it brakes a bit better. So i'd give
the safety nod to the 850 (but the 200 series is a safe car, too).
Most modern cars are actually pretty safe since the rest of the
world discovered safety sells (too) and pretty much caught up
with Volvo.

We get 27mpg on highway and about 20mpg around town. Some report
a bit better and other lower, but thats in the ballpark as to what
you can expect on an 850.
