Just something I've been mulling over. The 850's manual states battery capacity is 520 A/100min (312A/hr) and alternator is rated at 1400W and 100A. I'm curious about is, if a replacement battery's rating is in excess of the intended value which the system is designed to support, I believe the charging system will have to work harder, longer (shortening it's life) to charge the battery to capacity.
CCA, based on a websearch I did, is "the discharge load in amps, a new fully charged battery can deliver continuously at 0° F for 30 seconds and maintain terminal voltage equal to or higher of 7.2 volts."
I don't know what the minimum voltage requirement is for ECU or other system operation but I don't think 7.2 Volts will do. So is CCA rating a valid criteria?
Cheers,
