I have owned a 1995 850 Turbo since brand spanking new. The car only has 74K miles on it.
All maintenance have been met or exceeded. I run Mobil 1 synthetic oil as well as ATF.
I personally have spent an inordinate amount of time fixing all the things listed on Bay13's site ( than you volvospeed.com for saving me 1000's in repair costs!)
The turbo is very fun to drive and the car is solidly constructed (hopefully safe).
However, the 850 as compared to my 2 toyota vehicles is very maintenance and repair intensive. This despite me going overboard on all preventative maintenance items.
I am immediately facing another AC evaporator replacement ( $1,150 to $1,600).
Last month had to have all 3 motor mounts and the front cv shafts overhauled.
The list goes on , and on.......
BTW- the gas mileage in city driving is only about 2MPG better than our Toyota Sequoia land tank suv !
My wife refuses to take the 850 on trips for fear of a breakdown - I frankly cannot blame her.
The shame of it is, I really do like the 850 turbo because it is enjoyable and responsive to drive in. Too bad Toyota didn't make it.
