Thank you for your replies.

Another wrinkle to my (possibly very expensive) dilemma: in the past three days, my ABS and Tracs have shut down. The first time, I had run over a pothole while braking. Second time, I was sitting at a light with my foot on the brake. Both times, I re-started the car and the ABS/Tracs were seemingly fine.

Could there be a connection?
