Transmission starting off in winter mode 850 1994

It's probably in limp-home moded. Check for fault codes (pin 1), record them and try clearing the codes. If you clear the codes, it will be out of limp-home mode unless it's a permanent fault. 313 is a PNP switch.
Your trans could also have internal problems which would then require replacement if you can't clear the codes and if it's not a bad PNP switch but further testing is advised before jumping to conclusions.
