Like most who don't know how things operate on the inside, you're wrong in stating a plural term of "the dealer techs" when it's always just a matter of bad luck with ONE less than steller tech, NOT all who work there.
I'm sure that your dealership has at least one good tech who can properly diagnose and repair ANY Volvo.
Also, "yellow line" or not, ANYONE anywhere CAN request that a better tech and preferably one WITH proper credectials work on YOUR car. That's your right, it's your car. You simply tell the service writer and/or mananger that if a better tech doesn't work on your car, you'll simply take your car elsewhere. Guess what? A better, more qualified tech will work on your car.
