If you replace the 8 ohm spkr with a 4 ohm without any other changes, you will likely toast the amp stage of the HU or the amp, depending on what is in your car. This will lower the impedance seen by the amp below what the amp is capable of driving. As my old boss used to say, "You are tuning it for smoke".
