Unusual - but, start with the basics.
- Fuel system: both fuel pumps work? Does the car start if you jumper across the 2 fuel pump fuses? If yes, then suspect the fuel pump relay. Does the car have a full tank of gas, or at least 3/4? If it's 1/2 or less and you can hear the fuel pumps running, then you may have a failed pickup tube inside the tank.
- Is there spark? Check the usual suspects - cap and rotor. Possibly the power stage. Tried checking the EZ-K diagnostic codes? Is the 12v wire to the coil in good condition, with no corrosion or excessive road grime
- Crank position sensor may be bad; not sure how to test this other than to replace it. (I'm sure other Bricksters can help here.)
- Rare, but it happens - the core of the catalytic converter may break loose (internally) and block the flow of exhaust gas, but usually not to the point where the engine stalls dead, it just goes to idle and the car won't rev or develop any power. When you re-start the engine, sometimes there's enough vibration to shake the core loose from it's plugged position and the car runs fine until the next time it happens!
Last thing I'd try is to unplug the AMM connector (key out of the ignition, please!) and see if she starts. If yes, you have a bad AMM, AMM connector, or ECU.
