I know about 1x2, and have used them -- some for the purpose of uncluttering the garage. They are cheap enough to avoid ripping 2x4s if there are a few uncurled ones, and adding a routed edge makes for garage-class moldings. I just can't picture the 1x1 in anything but maybe fingerjoint pine, where it would be called 3/4 square.

I like #5 or at least the memory of it. Speaking of memory, not my best attribute, hence the camera, I can't really and truly remember my thoughts when grabbing the Sharpie. #1 would be a good bet, but I know the stick started out as a way to troubleshoot those pesky sedan brake lights, and not to block the reservoir, which I learned much later from Lucid. About the time I got started on the sedan tail light frustration, I had an understudy of sorts in my youngest daughter. I may have inscribed that stick to get a laugh from her, as in "You can keep the lights on with the 'Volvo Brake Pedal Stick'" with her "huh?" face followed by where to find it.
