Bewfote you go to the trouble of yanking the manifold, remove the valve cover and check the operation of the valve train. The Volvo's fuel injection system fires all four injectors simultaneously, each slightly up stream of the intake valve. The result is a plenum that it always wet, with enough fuel getting to every valve even if one injector fails. With a failed injector causing a slightly lean condition, the ECU would simply fire the injector circuit more frequently.
A totally dry hole is more loikely caused by a blockage in the valve.
