I've got a solution that I've been using for the vacuum hoses that split where they slip over the metal nipples.
I've been using a short piece of heat shrink tubing to cover the end of the rubber tubing.
I use the smallest size that I can slip over the hose (before heating).
The heat shrink gives the rubber tubing some much needed support, especially if it's getting old.
I use a heat gun to shrink the tubing instead of a torch.
It doesn't seem to damage the heat shrink tubing whereas a flame gets the tubing too hot and causes damage to it.
hope this helps
