"I read Lucid's post to Susan on making up a wire to access the blue service socket on her 940. Would this also apply to the 240, with the exception of the 12V coming from a different source on the 240?"
Yes (partially) with 2 differences:
1) The 240 Service socket comes off a wire bundle in the firewall (near the center). It's the short, red-sheathed wire hiding behind the dip stick.
I think we can thank art Benstein for the photo.

2) The 240 doesn't have the handy 12V source I described to Susan. That seems to be unique to the Rex-Regina (Ignition & Fuel Injection) used on some 740s and 940s from '89 to '93 at least, and maybe '94?
But you can get +12V at the Battery + terminal.
(I'm glad that somebody read that post. Guess it was too techie for Susan. And maybe not too well-written. The goddam Captchas didn't help on the edits either.)
