Flush the Fluid. Tap the pedal early in the flush
No need to bench bleed a MC.
With Motive brand or other power, pressure bleeder, on the first open bleeder, tap the brake pedal for an extra push to dislodge any remaining air embolism in the MC.
Suction does not work as air gets passed the thread interface between caliper bore and the bleeder.
Same reason why bleeding using the brake pedal, with something under the pedal so you don't push the MC piston to far into the MC bore, unless you have an assistant with whom to coordinate brake pedal stroke. Press down, open bleeder, near bottom of pedal stroke, close bleeder.
Gravity bleed can work so long as the MS is not allows to get empty.
Some will use a turkey baster to remove old, black fluid from the reservoir and replace with new DOT 4. The belief being the solution to pollution, or old, brown or black brake fluid, is gradually replaced. Yet doing so does not flush out particulates and other carp that settles in the caliper.
My recently documented brake fluid flush on my 1992 240 GL w/ ABS.

Brake Rotor Sourcing
Check with the two usual retail vendors for Volvo 240:
- iPd (www.ipdusa.com)
- FCP Euro (https://www.fcpeuro.com/)
Easy to find part numbers. Volvo PN is for ventilated front Girling brake calipers, ABS and Not ABS, rotor:
Volvo PN 31262089
ATE and Zimmerman rotors are made in Germany, apparently:

Brembo is made in China as are AutoZone and the like auto part store lot.
I'm pleased with the AutoZone cheapo rotors for 240.
In the past five years I've replaced the front or rear rotors on two 240s.
Always use organic brake pads such as Volvo blue box, Bosch, and I use the O'Rielly BrakeBest Organic Front Disc Brake Pads.
Use the year, make, model selector to choose your 240 and see the parts available.
Some research suggest the BrakeBest Organic Front Disc Brake Pads are actually Bosch organic brake pads.
Do not use semi-metallic or metallic pads. The less dense rotor iron alloy material in the modern era wear well with organic pads. Yet do not warp as ealier Made in China rotors from AutoZone and elsewhere did in late 1990s early 2000s.
