M47 Fill Bolt 200 1989

Alright, problem is a stripped fill bolt for the m47 transmission casing. It's pretty bad. Almost looks like an acorn nut... The drain bolt looks better, but is still on there with considerable torque. So, before any more attempts are made, I'd like to try the heat method... I've read you get the casing around the bolt pretty hot with either a torch or a heat gun. Then, with Vice Grip brand pliers, bust it loose. And it helps to PB B'last for a couple days before hand...
Questions: Should I try the ol' tighten before loosen method at all? Or is it past that point? Also, would the PB B'laster catch on fire?.... Would anything under there catch on fire? Just wondering before "The final attempt" is made, before I take it to a auto shop to wrestle with it.
